There is some literature implying that "asthma" and “COPD” are being over-diagnosed. Many people believing or being told they have "asthma" actually have a very specific type of muscular tension focussed in their upper rectus abdominis and pectoral muscles, causing an extreme lack of thoracic diaphragm tonicity, leading to curtailed lung function, thereby increasing phlegm production. The hyper-tonisization of the musculature leads to the body feeling it is under attack, and phlegm is produced in the lungs in an attempt to “soothe and protect”. We then assume we have “a cold” or “asthma”, which we may not. We may simply have tension and anxiety.
The Wilson Method works to reverse this learned muscle tension to alleviate the symptoms of respiratory distress.
